Beachscape Kin Ha Villas, Cancun – Review

The Beachscape Hotel in Cancun has been one of my personal favorites for years. It was the first hotel I stayed at when I first came as a tourist to Cancun, back in 1998 (yes, it has rained a lot since those days). Back then it was called KIN HA VILLAS. Then it changed its name to Ambiance Villas, and now it is called (who knows for how long) Beachscape Kin Ha Villas. No matter what the name, the quality of this place has remained unchanged.

First off, the Beachscape Kin Ha Villas hotel is on the very best beach that the Cancun hotel zone has to offer. The whitest sand, the clearest water, the happiest little fish pecking at your toes, and the best location right in the middle of the strip.

This hotel is comprised of four main buildings, each with more than a dozen rooms. But they’re not just rooms. Every single one is like a small condo, with one or two or even three bedrooms, a sitting area, kitchenette and a spacious balcony overlooking the beach or the lagoon, depending on its location. All rooms are decorated in a tropical rattan furniture style, in vibrant colors with sparkling white sheets and towels. Colorful local art hangs on the walls and warm tones complement the simple, Caribbean-style decor.

There is one main restaurant offering Mexican and international dishes, for a pretty decent price considering this is the hotel zone of Cancun, where everything is overpriced.

The main courtyard, where all buildings converge, has a huge crystal clear pool and a kids wading pool. Plenty of umbrellas and chaiselongs, a well stocked bar and an unobstructed view of the sand and beach. There isn’t much more to this hotel, it is relatively small, which adds to its character, and unless you are looking for an overcrowded place and a pool where you can barely move, you will appreciate the quaint, boutique-size Beachscape Kin Ha Villas Hotel. That being said, the pool in this hotel is big enough that you can swim laps, and for the most part, empty enough that you won’t be bumping into people.

The reason? Most guests are at the beach! And can you blame them? After all, its’ hard to say no to the beautiful, clean, inviting beach of the Kin Ha! This is also one of the few beaches that you can swim at in Cancun during nighttime. It’s safe, the water is knee or waist deep for over one hundred yards (which means no sharks!), and there is hotel security guarding the beach all night long.
Personally, when my family or my girlfriends suggest that we go away for a weekend at the beach, the Beachscape Kin Ha Villas is always my first suggestion. They don’t always heed my advice but I certainly try!

For its unrivaled beach (that’s what you came to Cancun for, didn’t you?), its clean, well stocked rooms, its unbeatable location and its decent prices, I rate the Beachscape Kin Ha Villas Hotel a well deserved FIVE STARS RATING.
